I sat in a 2004 Pontiac GTO last Saturday.

The interior is many times better in person than in pictures. :eek3:

In fact, the entire car is vastly better in person than in pictures. :eek3: :eek3: :eek3:

The only thing that detracts from the inside is the three climate control dials, they have a feeling similar to a first gen. Ford Taurus and nonlinear motion.

Otherwise, it's on par with a new Honda Accord. Pictures to come sometime soon.

Oh, and the entire body is metal, no 'glass or plastic that I could find anywhere, even the grille is steel.

    Kangaroos don't stand a chance. :eek3:

I am too, nothing on the body flexed when I pushed on it. Unlike the current Bonneville, Sunfire, and Grand Am.

It's a sad sad day when you are comparing GTO's to Honda Accords. :wtc:

Not really, the new Accord has a godlike Audi quality interior. It's a good comparison.

Pontiac was displaying to Phantom Black Metallic GTOs, one had a red interior and the other had a black interior (which is really a dark charcoal gray).

The pedals are actual aluminum, as are the door handles. The rest of the interior is dressed up with the same satin silver stuff they use in the new Grand Prix, and it looks very nice.

The paint jobs are very rich too, even the wheels (which are painted aluminum). Phantom Black is pretty much Cosmos Black BMW paints their cars.

...and the old ones were just a Ferrari nameplate on a Tempest with a big engine.

...and what better car does GM currently build to be the GTO than the Monaro? They still make good muscle/performance cars, they just haven't been selling them to us, until now.

The new GTO is very antithesis of the F-body with the same performance, just the kind of halo car Pontiac needs.

    Thanks Lutz!

Now I know first hand why they weigh 3,700lbs too, they're built like tanks.

Yet another thing it has in common with the original GTOs. :o

Think around Buick Riviera size, or GN size. Big coupe.
