I'm writing up a 10 page market analysis on starting a gym for my entrepreneurship class. I've found bits of info here and there, any of you guys know of good resources I could use?

gyms dont seem to make alot of money persay the cost and expense of running verse amount of members and paying workers, but the best gyms that i have seen were people that already had a good bit of money form a large company or whatever and they would add on a 24 hour gym top an existing building such as an office building that handled all the paperwork for their company.. i know 3 people that have done this and have done fairly well... all 3 broly gyms and alot of long time members.. not to say u cant make money doing it as a stand alone but most of the time the owner if they stay in the business for a long time are not using it as the main source of income.... kinda like working a normal job and having rental units ie duplexes single family homes etc for rent.. i doubt it helped in anyway i just felt like typing

Call a gym and talk to the owner if he will give you some of his time, i work at my gym and talk my owner all the time about how he runs the gym and how he got his feet off the ground. He 1 medium sized gym into 3 very nice gyms with lots of members, its interesting listening to his business experiences and how he got to where he is today.

Def include targeting other businesses aobut paying upfront for employee memberships even if they don't use them. Some make alot of money doing this. Free gym membership when they don't use it equals $$$.
