...to tell me about awesome comics. I'm completely ignorant and just getting into comics again. I was into Deadpool and Venom and Carnage when I was much younger, and I don't think it's appropriate to jump right into those stories again without reading the first Spider-Man comics, X-Men comics, and every other fucking universe that Marvel has created.

I've also started Kick Ass, finished Watchmen, and I would love any suggestions for great comic book stories. Keep me entertained! I'll read anything, as long as it's recommended. :x:

I don't know, I kinda want to just re-read the entire series from the 1960s, instead of reading the quick and modern version of the same story. Why should I read the Ultimate series?

If you want to read Deadpool, i've upped majority of his stuff on Warskrull anyway. But like the others have said, the Ultimate universe is a good fresh start to the Marvel universe.

It's a sort of reimagination of the normal universe, where a lot of things are different, but use similar story arcs. For example, Ultimate Spiderman's Clone Saga was 100 times better than the first one. But just make sure you read the Ultimates (Their version of the Avengers) 1 and 2. Don't read 3. It's a shit-fest.

Fables is just plain awesome, seriously. No super-heroics or anything. Walking Dead is brilliant (they fuck shit up, man! :noes:).

Some of Marvels galactic heroes are awesome as well, and you don't need that much history lesson to just jump in and read it. I'd suggest starting with Annihilation (also upped on WS), Annihilation: Conquest and the Nova series. The new Guardians of the Galaxy is beginning to shape up quite nicely.

As for DC, Green Lantern is the best there is at the moment. Start with Rebirth and work your way up. By the time you're catched up, we're just closer to possibly the best event of the decade, Blackest Night :)noes::noes::noes::noes::noes::noes::noes::noes:). If you like stand-alone stuff, Detective Comics is good (Paul Dini ftw). In fact, anything by Paul Dini and Geoff Johns is a must-have if you read DC.
Legions of Super-Heroes have just been perfect since their new series started. Action Comics is shaping up since Geoff Johns jumped on.

For more indie stuff, i'd say go with Scalped and DMZ. Just recently bougt vol 1 and 2 of DMZ and it's great.

That's just to start with of course :mamoru:

DMZ is one of my favorite running series in my list right now.

Young Liars is a fairly new series, a lot of OTCC is raving about it.

Punisher (MAX Line) by Garth Ennis is a hoot as well. He just finished his 5 year run on the series so there is approx 8-10 trades if you are interested.

Scalped I've heard lots of good things from Brian K Vaughn, to Garth Ennis raving on how good it is ill be picking up the first trade for sure.

Jack of Fables is a great side story to Fables
Wolverine: Origin & Wolverine: Origins are both awesome.
Y the Last Man  all im going to say is read it.
    Invincible

    :o

I do want to mention, for the sake of everyone that has read it, that Marquand, Mo does not look like that. I've played baseball there, and it's way more flat, and less cliffy.
    :hs:

edit - and if I remember correctly, there isn't a train that goes through there, no railroad.

If you like the symbiote stuff, check out Toxin - Son of Carnage.

Story is pretty good, but the art is off-the-scale cool. (Edit, well, aside from the giant chins... lol..)

Ultimate Spider-Man has been awesome pretty consistently, love the way they twisted the original characters.

Ultimate X-Men has been hit and miss, hated the Kirkman/Alixe run though. Ugly art, and I really don't give a shit about the Morlocs. Loved the nightcrawler stuff.

Ultimate FF4 was awesome, but after Greg Land it went downhill, even if Land rips off Google, lol.. The President Thor storyline was epic, loved it.

I'm about 15 issues into Walking Dead. It's fucking sweet. Young Liars seems....okay. I'm only one issue in, though. More suggestions are welcome, and I thank everyone who has put in some input. I'll be reading everything I can get my hands on.
