And, I have gathered that I should weight train in addition to dieting and exercising, etc... I have already altered my diet and have started running every day. I am completely new to lifting weights of any sort and would like to incorporate it. I know I could probably google this but I would rather get a reliable source from you guys.

Do you know of any websites or maybe even past posts that I might have missed which will guide me and explain how to do simple weight training? I'm talking basics basics basics. I don't want to go about it the wrong way.

(I am a girl if that might change anything)

    Thanks. :)

Usefull site to show you the basic form of most lifts. Start out with compound movements that hit more then one muscle group, such as bench press and squat.

Well, I used to play field hockey in high school. I haven't done any serious running since then, which is almost 2 years.

So, with that said, I decided to go with running to get back into shape since it worked before. Right now, since it's been a while since I've done anything, I go running every day except for 1 or 2 days a week. I run a 2.5 mile track with some walking (again, I'm out of shape and I have aerobic asthma.) As for the gym... I'm really not sure how many times I would go there a week because I'm going to have access to one starting friday and I don't know really what it's like yet. Also, I don't really know how many times I should go.

My goal would be to mainly be able to run a 5k comfortably, and to be able to run 3 times a week to maintain everything I've gained up to that point.
