Well, what the hell. I'm on here enough, might as well ctrl+v my normal log and give it some OT flava.

Everyone's seen my pics I'm sure; just for log reference here we go.

Stats: 5'3", weight 160ish depending on the day.

I've kinda shelved the running-for-racing for the moment; I'm burned the fuck out. Performance has been sucking and I've been doing it for a year and a half, I'm wanting to get back into heavy lifting and really try and work on my body composition. I want to keep a few runs per week just because it's damn good cardio, but I'm not going to be pushing for speed or distance anymore.

    Supps ATM:
    Fish oil 6x1gram caps daily
    Vitamin C 3-5 grams daily
    MultiV
    Calcium-1200 mg daily w/Vitamin D and Magnesium
SAMe-just started this week for moods
Cissus-just started this week out of curiosity, dropped my normal glucosamine/chondroitin

Welcome to the training logs, Elfling.
When I saw you started one I was going to insist on pics... thankfully I didn't need to.:x:

    Isn't SAMe pretty pricey?

SAMe is RETARDEDLY expensive. It's worse than glucosamine/chondroitin, and not many people make it, and out of THOSE people I only trust maybe 2. But if it works for the mood swings I've been having lately, I don't care.

    Saturday August 12th

AM cardio: 45 minutes cybex machine, alternating low and high inclines for 5 minute intervals
    PM lifting:
    -Chins: 5, 2+partials
    -Bench press: 8x105, 3x5x115
-Squats: 4x6x135 gods, I love squats :wiggle:
    -WG pulldown: 5x100, 3x5x95
-RDL: 4x6x95 holy hell..not a heavy weight but I have *no* grip strength whatsoever anymore. Haven't done deads of any sort in over a year. Damn.
    -Dbell shoulder press: 12,10x20

Weight: 162.6  hopefully we'll see this go down soon. I expect a slight bounce with cutting back on the running, especially in light of whatever hormone issues I'm having at the moment.

I was considering taking it years ago when suffering from depression... but its cost would have in itself been a further cause of depression.
SAMe is also good for joints or osteoarthritis at least. Something that would also benefit me.

I'm justifying it by cutting out my normal glucosamine/chondroitin mix, which I don't need if I'm not running :wiggle: One 25 dollar bottle of pills for another :mamoru:

    Sunday August 13th

Tried to fool myself into thinking I'd wake up early enough to beat the heat and get in a casual run outside, but who was I kidding? So I went to the gym. I'll probably get a few runs-for-fun in next week, gym cardio is definitely much less fun.

30 minutes Cybex- inclines 3-7, intensities 26-31, varied intervals
Treadmill: 2x5 mins running, 0.1 mile faster every minute
    1x10 mins, same deal
    1x10 mins walking cooldown

Got some Hood Calorie Countdown milk and low-carb Special K since I was dying for cereal. Hopefully the calorie countdown milk is so watered down that it won't bother my skin. Plan for the week food wise: Get the protein up higher than when I was running, lget better about fruit and veggies, cut back on starchy stuff. Carbs: Use 'em or wear 'em.

Evening: 40 minutes yoga, steak, redskin potatos and haricots verts. Mmmmm.

    Last week's calorie ranges:
    Monday 8/7:Totals 1249 38g fat 153g carbs 85g protein
    Tuesday 8/8:Totals 1120 20g fat 156g carbs 88g protein
    Wednesday 8/9:Totals 1207 25g fat 160g carbs 105g protein
    Thursday 8/10:Totals 1139 26g fat 117g carbs 120g protein
    Friday 8/11:Totals 1642 41g fat 193g carbs 135g protein
Saturday 8/12: off day-nothing very high, I tend to not eat rather than eat these days
    Sunday 8/13:Totals: 1360 29g fat 136g carbs 148g protein

And yep- those are totally honest. Right down to entries if I even had a peppermint after coffee. [IMG] [IMG] Very afraid of what my already-kooky body is going to do to me with not running almost every day.

4th day review of SAMe: It's a farking miracle. I feel *normal*. Everything seems three shades brighter. I haven't been so even-tempered in months, it's such a relief.

Dang, I'd kill someone if I were to eat less than 1500 cals without losing weight. About SAMe : it's working ? I'm gonna look into that and the science behing it, the psych student in me needs to know :hs:

SAMe has been  Only contraindication I know for it is that it can induce mania in bipolar people. There's a good study base for it, it definitely seems to work.

I read about it on pubmed and it seems really interesting. Did you have a blood test done recently ? It seems that it's linked with folate/vitamin B12 deficiency.

I had blood work done a few months ago, doctor then didn't order what I wanted however. Have an appt with a new osteopath on Monday and hopefully maybe he'll be open to doing some stuff to figure out my moods and weight issues and so on :hs:

    Monday August 14th

    Evening lifting:
-Front squats 4x6x95 clumsy, haven't done these in a while
    -Chins: 5, 2+partials, 2+partials
-Dbell bench 6x45, 3x5x45 booyah! These were cake.
    -WG cable row: 6x100, 2x6x90, 6x85
    -Pec dec flye: 2x12x60

I feel strong again. I also weighed in at 165  Makes me paranoid that I can't, indeed, stop running.

    Calories today:Totals:1283 30g fat 135g carbs 128g protein
    Supps: 2x200mg SAMe, 6x1gram fish oil, 4g vitamin C, 2x2caps cissus (for whatever it's worth, I have my doubts), 3xcalcium/mg/vitamin D.

And I ended up at more than 1200 cals yesterday- woke up starving in the middle of the night, had some chicken and icecream [IMG] Shouldnt've had the icecream but I'm stupid when I wake up at 2 a.m. I wish I could just not have the stuff in the house, but Josh bought 3 half-gallons of stuff the other day. So I balanced it out with the chicken.

Weird thing about the night-time eating is that's a clear sign I'm under maintenance and/or overtraining. Yet, I'm not losing weight and I'm certainly not overtrained at the moment.

It's weird, last year and a half I've been a very happy distance runner. Then last week I woke up on Wednesday and went screw this shit, I'm tired of icing my shins and getting up early and carb loading and long runs. So I guess tentatively I'm back to lifting heavier and really trying to figure out why the fuck I can't lose weight on less than 2/3 of maintenance calories.

    Tuesday August 15th
    PM cardio:
30ish minutes treadmill running intervals: 5x5 minutes, 1/10th mile faster each minute, 1.5 minutes walking between each
35 minutes cybex, hard as I could push it

An old lady tsk'd at me rolling my shorts down in public [IMG]
Weight on the way in (1$ to PMDL): 165
