... It's a bitch to clean these fucking thigns.

I was cleaning the mini-14 the other day to get it ready to sell and it takes forever. I can clean all my pistols in an hour even after puting 500+ rounds through them. If I do the same with a rifle, then I know it's going to have a good bit of copper build up down that barrel to clean out so I'll be having to brush it and let the solvent sit to get that copper. Plus the reciever covers the back of the barrel on my mini, M1, and 10/22 so I have to clean from the muzzle.

And plus all I had been shooting was Wolf out of the mini so that red shit they put around the primer was EVERYWHERE. Covering the trigger assembly, bolt, op-rod, everything!

    I'm bored so I'm complaining.

yea, i was so used to cleaning rifles. cleaning my AR wasn't too hard, but it wasn't fast either. i cleaned my HK USP after shooting it for the first time in like 5 minutes. it takes about 10 seconds to disassemble

I'm going to see if I can get some of those wash bottles they use in labs that'll stand up to cleaning solvents, maybe even diesel fuel, to help in cleaning :o

Edit: What are the main ingredients of Hoppe's #9 and Shooter's Choice? Need to see if one of these wash bottles will stand up to the stuff.

I'm glad I can't afford to shoot my S&W 629 often enough to have to clean it a lot :o

Once I get reloading equipment setup I'll probably load a lot of .44 special load rounds so I can shoot it more but cleaning it, the two times I've done it, did take awhile. Not as long as the rifle though. In other news the 320gr flat tip penetrators I shot out of it the last range visit are a fucking beast (1146ft-lbs energy).

BORESNAKE, especially for the 10/22. I finally got around to using the boresnake in my .22. Two passes is all it took after i pushed a patch w/ hoppes 9. Then i ran a couple dry patches, lubed, i was done. SO QUICK, i love boresnakes now.

And then any extra dirty solvent runs into the action area or the brush puts a fine mist of shit all over the reciever.

I had a boresnake I was using all the time. I even put solvent on the brush area and made multiples passes.

I loved how quick it was working, but I then pulled out the rod and jag and could not believe the amount of copper build up in the barrel that a boresnake doesn't even touch. It's great for a quick cleaning but it doesn't come as close to using a rod, patches, jags, and brushes.

Probably great for a handgun though as I don't really get any copper build up in any of mine.

I clean the barrel, but I don't even bother with the gas piston or gas tube anymore. If the gas tube does somehow get eaten up by the burnt powder, a new one will only cost me $8-12, same goes for the piston.
