Is this good or bad? The salesman said that its not that tough to ride, and that its not as bad as everyone says it is to learn on a fast bike.

I went to another dealership, and the salesman laughed at me when I told him I was considering a Dakati for a starterbike. I already put 500 down on the bike, and now i'm having second thoughts.

Is it bad to buy the bike?

    1) It's Ducati
    2) A salesman's job is to sell you the most expensive item he can, in order to make the largest commission.
    3) A salesman's job is not to sell you the best bike for you; see #2.
    4) Salesmen are not honest. If they say "I'm going to be honest with you", they are DEFINITELY lying.
    5) If "everyone" says it's hard to learn on a fast bike, but the salesman say's it's not, who are you going to believe? "Everyone" or the salesman? (Please note, "everyone" does not recieve a commission check when the expensive Italian bike sells).
    6) A Ducati is a VERY expensive bike, in terms of initial cost, repair costs, and parts costs. It is like the Ferrari of the bike world. Do you think it's a good idea to learn how to drive in a Ferarri?

Go back to the Ducati dealer, try to get your deposit back.
Call the MSF and sign up for the MSF new rider class.
After completing the class and getting your motorcycle license, go back to the 2nd dealer and buy a bike with 500cc's or less of displacement.

That's the proper way to get into motorcycling.

So you've already put money down on the bike, and you have no idea how to spell its name?

    I smell bullshit.

Besides, who puts down $500 on a DUCATI???

    it's yellow :dunno:

It was a spur of the moment thing, the salesman really got me hooked. I really wanted to get into the sport but I never really had enough time.

Does it look more like a sportbike or a naked bike? You should really learn more about the bike before you buy it. I'm not saying you HAVE to go to the MSF class, but DAMN! At least figure out what you're gonna be riding and what year it is. This salesman sounds super shady... :slap: He could sell you a heap of junk with pretty plastics and you wouldn't even know.

I'm locking this because the thread starter is obviously clueless and not buy any bike as we can all tell.
