Hello. The first thing to make clear is that I have pretty much absolutely no experience of programming of any sort, apart from very basic HTML.

What I really need to create is a program that allows me to create pages and pages with several 'choices' to click on, and then have it tell me that I got something right or wrong, according to the button I click on. Also, I need something that will allow me to have a 'next' button so I can change the page. Furthermore, something that can add up the right/wrong answers and give a final score, as well as record all the scores achieved is needed.

As well as that, I would like to be able to add images, backgrounds and change the text with ease.

Obviously, I would like to use a programming language/software that is easy to learn and use, is suitable for this purpose as well as cheap/free (although this isn't really essential). Possibly, a language with plenty of tutorials/resources on the web would be helpful.

Now...please help the clueless new person! :)

Edit: One thing I didn't make clear was that I need it to be something to put on a CD or as a program on a hard drive, not as a website.

Dreamweaver? Saved as a file that can be opened without the need of any specialist programs?

I'm not disputing what you're suggesting - I'm just surprised as I didn't know it could do that.

Just make sure you save all the site data to the CD.

I'm sure they have programs that do what you want.

So you basically want a quiz creating program? Surely there's some packages out there that can help you for this without having to touch any code.

Do some searching. What about this: http://www.lucagalli.net/en/ ?

yea you can actually throw this together in HTML, but i'd say go with access to keep it simple.

Yes, I know. That's what I said in my original post. I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I don't think anybody here actually needed somebody to point that out.

EDIT: Moving away from that, what whup suggested actually looks good. Thank you for that.
