we've been kicking around the idea of a new car...well new to us. I'm thinking a used yaris and a gto. I was talking to a friend of mine today and he went 12.88 @ 106 with less then a grand of work in the gto. I'm thinking it's time for a few new cars in the driveway...of course that's money that could be used for a house....

Tell her it's either a GTO or a Hayabusa. She'll make the right choice. haha

New G8. GM is hurting enough where you'll probably get a good deal.

And G8's aren't selling for the most part.

i don't really think a GTO and a house are in the same leage price wise

    GTO's are getting dirt cheap

C5 Z06? but for the extra cost in the vette you could put a decent amount of go fast parts under the hood of the goat.

Doesn't matter. Pick up a foreclosure, clean it up, live in it while it's convenient, and put it on the market when you move. It's an instant 50k-200k (depending on house size) increase in assets, because foreclosures sell so far below market value.

see here's the problem I kinda want an auto. but i would like to get a speedway white Z06. the mods to the goat would be minimal, tune, drag bags, lpe cold air intake, camaro wheels/drs. should be enough for a while

who wouldn't? if it's an auto and an LS2 then the GTO is definitely the way to go. LS1 wouldn't be bad either but a 4th gen camaro or trans am could get you the same engine and trans for cheaper but it wouldn't have the nice interior, lower miles, and not have been beat on for at least six years.

i've got a mustang GT now so i don't need another car like that....I'd like something with a semi decent interior or I'd just buy a foxbody.

then I'd say your criteria leads you to only one option if you want the LS2.

    i'd get the LS2

it sucks that the Monaro's here were only even LS1's, if we wanted a LS2, we had to buy the super expensive HSV Coupe, or a 4 door commodore :o

this is true and I'm fine with the GTO but I need to figure out if I could actually deal with a 4 door

And about 10-15k fucking more than a used 04.

I have an 04 A4 and I absolutely love the car. It's got a shit load of sound equipment in the trunk and I'm running on stock tires (BGF KDWS, horrible for drag strip).. Ran a 13.9 at the track without warming up the tires or launching. It's fast enough for now... until tax money comes back next year anyway.

You can pick up used 04 GTO's for cheap and if you plan on modding, 04 > 05/06. My car is stock but from what I understand, changing the heads on the 04 puts it right up to speed with the 05/06's.

Honestly the fuel economy blows but I don't drive much so it doesn't bother me, sounds like you don't care either.

I have stock chrome 17" wheels and they look great considering they're stock. I get compliments on the car all the time from girls and guys alike. I like that while it's not a _rare_ car you don't see them all over the place.

The interior isn't amazing but the seats are comfortable as hell, it's got a 6 disc changer, controls are easy to use.. The only thing I don't like is there isn't a button for the power locks except on the 06's.

Stock exhaust is awfully quiet but if you plan on modding you have a lot of choices. I'm running magnaflow mufflers right now which are quiet but once I get headers it should liven up the sound a bit.

I'm not a guru but if you have any specific questions I can try and answer them.

Only difference is I've got the 06 tail lights now which have a black housing. Looks much better on a black car.
