What have you guys found to work for you?

There's Apple Remote Desktop, but even on my LAN it feels choppy. Does it let you control/observe over the internet? If so, what protocol? VNC or something else?

It seems like VNC is the way to go but for some reason either the clients or servers for OS X aren't as fast as RealVNC for Windows. I didn't even have to mess with any emulation setting or lower the amount of colors, it'd always be snappy.

What servers and clients are you guys using? I've tried Vine server and Chicken Of VNC (client)

I think this is one area where Windows has a leg up on OS X, although I haven't used ARD myself.

Depending on what you want to do, you might be able to get away with SSH (command line) or some kind of web interface like Webmin or cPanel. Otherwise I think your only options are ARD and VNC, so all you can do is decrease the display resolution and stuff like that.

I've noticed that UltraVNC seems to be faster with Chicken of the VNC than the other VNC clients
