My friend's parents want to get one. I don't know alot about them but can someone give me some suggestions? Try to keep it under a Thousand. She wants to be able to take stills too. She knows that the stills won't be as good as a digicam.

    Sure

I use the Sony TRV-17. It ran just under $1000 with a 64 MB memory stick, and I am satisfied with its quality, but it's replacement the TRV-27 is out for the same price and it takes better quality video and has a better microphone.

Done with the TRV-17, captured in Premier, edited and compiled in Videowave.
