Picked up a Glock 23c to carry.. yeah I know.. never been a glock guy, but I like this one. :) Hope it doesn't KB when I need it :noes:

Looking for some input on good holster models for it, most likely IWB, right handed.

thinking about the crossbreed super tuck.

    crossbreed ftl

if you need that style, get an mtac

otherwise, look at a vm2 or a summer special style holster

the 5% loss from the porting might help with over penetration

I also like the reduced muzzle flip. I did shoot the regular 23 as well.

Would rather not change my entire wardrobe.
I have always carried IWB except for when OC. I have a galco leather iwb, just clips on, but It doesn't feel that secure, and I figured the paddle behind other designs would be more comfy, but that is why I am asking. :)

So Comp-tac MTAC Vs crossbreed, why crossbreed ftl ?

You don't know much about ballistics do you?

.40 S&W JHP velocity and energy are very close to a .357 mag

It is a byproduct of the 5% or so energy loss vs non ported.
It is not the particular reason I use the C model, but you can still factor it in as an advantage.

a typical JHP .40 cal will penetrate 15" + of soft tissue, unless the target is a real fatass, or you plow a round right into the back of their spine... it will continue on past the target. Will that energy loss make a difference? maybe not. But I enjoy shooting the 23C over the regular 23. Besides, who gives a shit why I went with it anyways.

So, pick out your adjustable sights for your carry piece yet?

My main HD weapon is my G19c, it's the "compensated" model just because that's what the deal was. G19C with less than 100 rounds thru it, 3 mags with +2 extensions, $450 OTD. Yes ma'am. :coold: Whenever someone asks why I got the C model I just say because it looks cool because honestly I could give a fuck.

This thread fails in every way possible.

even a quick glance should show the mtac to be a professionally done holster while the crossbreed looks like a boyscouts project from camp

your terminal ballistics knowlege sucks, read more, i recommend you start with http://ammo.ar15.com/project/Fackler_Articles/winchester_9mm.pdf

.40 penetrates deeper than 9mm, and the picture shows a load at 995fps, where some of the .40 defensive ammo have 1200+ fps at the muzzle, in a short range situation (most likely) it will punch right through and cause collateral damage. Not that other calibers and types of ammo wouldn't also.

Seriously, did you even think of reading the pdf I linked to? I didn't just tell you you were wrong, I gave you a great start to fixing your misinformation.

is that supposed to be some sort of cut down b/c i'm thinking of putting adjustable sights on a carry? there are many people that have adjustables on a carry. it depends on the person shooting it. tell yar he is an idiot for putting adjustables on his carry.

So what exactly am I wrong about? the fact that when you shoot a human being, very frequently the bullets pass through the target and hit things and people beyond? :ugh:

I ask for some info about a holster, and instead a bunch of pizza faced computer geeks tell me why a glock23c is wrong, and try to say there is no chance for over-penetration in a self defense shoot.

This is shit you lean in the most basic pistol courses, or why don't you go ask the police, perhaps a forensics expert...

I have also already said, I have no idea as to the C model's affect on ballistics, and It isn't the reason I picked it up.
I like the reduced muzzle flip, and I tested one in dark conditions before buying and there was no night blindness from the muzzle flash.

I have an MTAC for my XD9sc, a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. :dunno: I did some research and decided not to bother trying to skimp on a holster. I do need to get a new belt though.
