So I have been having problems with the quality of my prints. My pictures look really nice on my screen, and nice on the camera preview window, but prints look like crap. I had my summer vacation pictures printed lately and they all turned out dark. I know that a calibrated monitor might help, but my monitor is crap and I have not been able to calibrate it while still keeping things readable. Its just a cheap monitor and I really cant afford to replace it.

So if someone, or multiple people, could look at this picture, and tell how it looks to you, especially light/dark, that would help. If it seems dark then chances are good ALL my pictures are coming out dark.
edit: this is a undeveloped picture. straight off the memory card. looks good on the screen, but prints dark.

    i appreciate the help.

Looks bright enough on my laptop. Other than it being out of focus (and being a picture of a guy named 'Mitt') it looks right.

2nd one looks like it was brightened up to show the dark side of mitt's face better, but in the process blew out the lights.

I don't think it's out of focus as much as you're getting camera shake from trying to shoot hand held @ 1/20 sec.

where are you printing your pics from?

mitt romney to be precise :eek3:

anyways it appears to have been saved with an embedded colour profile, try saving without one before getting it printed.

why not try decreasing the brightness/contrast on your monitor, making the image how you want it, then printing at home?

Is that the same as the so-called "picture style" on my XTi?
