2 weeks ago I was playing soccer and was hit in the back of the calf. I immediately had to stop running and walk off and stretch it. Later that day it swelled up real good. I iced it all day and nite. A week went by and this past saturday I noticed a huge bruise on my foot (from not keeping it elevated). The blood had gone down to my foot. At this point I decided to go see the doctor. I went this saturday and she told me to keep my foot elevated. I've been keeping it about 4ft off my bed with a stack of pillows, and the swelling has gone down.

The biggest concern I have right now is the fact that it is impossible to walk. I can only walk on my tippy toes. It's been 11 days since it happened, and the actual pain in my calf hasn't gone away. I move into college this weekend and really don't want to bring the crutches..

Does anyone have any ideas how I can relieve some of this damn calf pain, its been to long...

I used a little heat, but am thinking maybe putting my leg in ice water?

Go to an doc specializing in orthopedics.

Best bet would be to wait it out. It sucks, but try having a bummed leg for the rest of your life. If it's too big a temptation, maybe Icy Hot or something.

Ok, I'm going through the same shit right now with my hammy.

2-3 times a day heat it, stretch and massage it. If you have access to a physio or an ultrasound machine of your own use it daily. Take NSAIDs and stay off it as much as possible.

    Contusions
These are impact injuries causing bleeding within the muscle. Massage to a contusion may cause further damage and may lead to Myositis Ossificans (bone growth within the muscle).

Oh, didn't read the first post so didn't realize it was from an impact. Thought it was a tear.

Ice it. Maybe some ibuprofen too. I've heard of people "shocking" themselves by quickly switching between hot and cold treatments to get their blood circulating better around the area to promote healing. However, I'd only do that after swelling has gone down considerably.

Go back to the doctor, tell her: "Hey bitch, it's been 11 fucking days, now refer me to a proper calf muscle doctor before I double bicep your face!"

11 days of not being able to walk is a big deal, pestering a doctor isn't.
