I want to get a new digital camera.
I have two right now, but they both kind of suck and don't serve my needs.

I narrowed it down to 3 choices.
    Canon SD300
    Casio Exilim EX-Z55
    or Pentex Optio S5i

I want it to be ultraportable, but takes decent quality pictures and it must have optical and digital zoom.

I currently have a Sony camera with no zoom, and an Olympus that is too bulky to carry around.

Could you guys give yoru opinion on these models or some other models?

    Thanks :wavey:

canon is the win, no other explanation really necessary.

i would go with pentax for some reason on this,
plus the pentax is 5 mp and the canon is 4. so with cameras that small you want more pixels because the lens is the same but i thik the pentax lens in the smaller cameras is better

i would go for those there zoom is something like 35 - 420 mm so once pulled all the way it will be realy soft, and i think he wants something smaller, those are bulkie cameras

doh, I missed the part about being ultraportable. In that case he should look at the FZ5.

    awsome guys thanks.

I got to play with all the camears today at fry's and i didn't care too much for the pentax. The picture quality kind of sucks.
I had nothing but bad experiences from cannon, but I'm willing to give them another try.
The casio really blew me away, because it took nice pictures and it was fast.
I didn't lag any inbetween the pictures.

Other then that I'll have to give the panasonic a try and I'll make my mind up.
    Thanks guys.

I'm going to go ahead and say the Casio since no one has recommended it, just to make your choice that much harder. :o

olympus stylus series was pretty good too. The Casio's are great cams, but not the best made. The lenses always cracked on the outside of our demo cameras, so if you're rough on equipment, I'd stay away.
