I want some metal like Sepultura - Roots, Korn - Korn, Metallica - Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Lamb of God, etc. Bands that don't necessarily focus on really technical musicianship, but just awesome heavy music. I'll probably get hate for the Korn mention, but I don't really give a shit. Please recommend some other bands for me to check out. I'm not looking for any growling, but screaming is obviously fair game. Thanks for any input.

Black Label Society has some resemblance to Slayer and Pantera.

Already have slipknot and mudvayne. I wasn't all that impressed with Black Label Society.

I already have all of those bands and I'm trying to steer away from this style because I already have so much of it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Not really new, but I've really enjoyed Mastodon's stuff, especially Leviathan. I'd also suggest Devin Townsend's work with Strapping Young Lad and his Physicist albumn (my personal favorite). Alchemist is newer (at least for me, though their last albumn I have is from 2000).

If you're more open to progressive-leaning metal Opeth is also very good.

I think the title is misleading. I meant that I just want some new bands to listen to, but they don't have to be bands that recently came on the scene. That's why I mentioned Sepultura, Slayer, and Pantera.

Mastodon is definitely a great band as well as Opeth. I'll check out Strapping Young Lad and Alchemist. Thanks! :bigthumb:

Try punching in the names of your fave bands and see if you find some new ones you like.

From what I've heard, Mnemic seemed like a Meshuggah ripoff. Was it just a bad first impression and I should give it another shot?
