    How can I access my E: drive (my CD-ROM drive) in dos when it says "Invalid Drive Specification" when i try to get into it. I have read that I need to "add the DOS drivers for your CD-ROM drive to your CONFIG.SYS file, and MSCDEX.EXE to your DOSSTART.BAT file." but i have no idea what that means. Can anyone help me in this situation? I would appreciate it a lot, thanks.

    By the way, im using Windows 98, if that helps at all.

    1) Find a blank floppy
    2) Create Emergency Boot Disk. See Start Menu-->Help on how to create one
    3) Reboot with floppy.

    If you can get into Windows then.....

    1. Take blank floppy.
    2. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
    3. Click on Startup Disk at the top.
    4. Create disk.

    Done. That is your bootdisk with the CDROM drivers.

    Insert into autoexec.bat:
    (insert directory of mscdex here)\MSCDEX.EXE /D:mscd001 /L:E

    Insert into config.sys
    device=oakcdrom.sys /D:mscd001

    You need to make sure that the oakcdrom.sys file is present and that mscdex.exe is present. the /d:mscd001 says to name the drive as MSCD001 and must be the same between autoexec and config.sys. The /L:E says that the drive letter will be E. You could use whatever letter you prefer though.

    If none of those work try downloading a boot disk floppy maker from www.bootdisk.com

    If none of those work, try something that was suggested already?
