...what do you currently like? (There are several major types of colognes, so we need to know what of those genre's for men do you tend to lean toward.)

I like the dolce and gabbana cologne, it's kind of tangy.

What men should know about cologn...

Not all colognes/perfumes are made equally. The four different variations of quality in cologne are purfume, EDP, EDT, and EDC, depending on how much water and alcohol you want.

Perfume, also known as 'perfume extract', is the most concentrated and smoothest of the four types. Typically made up of a 20-40% concentration of scented compounds, perfume is definitely the most expensive to buy.

Eau de Parfum, or EDP is typically made up of an 8-16% concentration of scented compounds. EDP is probably the most common type of concentration you will see at the store. An EDP scent will usually fade after four hours, but the base notes can linger for a 24 hour period. Fragrances with an EDP concentration are perfect if you need an all day scent.

Eau de Toilette, or EDT, is another very common concentration found in many fragrances. EDT is typically made up of a 4-8% concentration of scented compounds. Some people find that some EDT perfumes last a long while, but generally these are better left for night time use where the scent isn’t needed for as long.

Eau de Cologne, or EDC, isn’t commonly found in any fragrances anymore. It doesn’t last that long, and is typically only made with a 2-4% concentration of scented compounds.

Now you will know what all those fancy French names are on the side of your favorite mens cologne bottle. Whether you need a longer duration scent for work, or something a little shorter for the clubs, you are now one step ahead of the crowd!

As far as genres of scent (what i was talking about earlier), the breakdown is as follows:

Floral -- The largest, and most popular category is created mainly from flowers, such as rose, orange blossom, gardenia, jasmine and carnation. These are often blended together to produce a distinctive floral bouquet.
(Examples: Aromatics Elixir (Clinique), Romance (Ralph Lauren), Beautiful (Estee Lauder), & Paris (Yves St. Laurent))

Oriental (F) |or| Musk (M) -- A heady clean mix of spices, amber, balsams and resins marks this type, suggestive of warmth and exotic sensuality. Because of the group's rich, musky traits, many prefer it for evening wear...
(Examples: Royal Secret (Five Star), Obsession (Calvin Klein), Shalimar (Guerlain), & Opium (Yves St. Laurent))

Citrus -- Derived from citrus fruits such as lime, lemon, tangerine and mandarin, this fragrance type projects a sharp, tangy aura. Naturally refreshing and uplifting, citrus blends are among the oldest known scents, first worn by men and now popular with women as well.
(Examples: Sung (Alfred Sung), CK One (Calvin Klein), Jess (Jessica McClintock), Acqua di Gio (Georgio Armani), & Gucci (Gucci))

Chypre -- A notably woodsy-mossy mix, this type was given its name by French perfumer Francois Coty, who created a scent based on his impression of the island of Cyprus. Chypre simply is French for Cyprus and is pronounced "SHIP-ruh". Hints of bergamot, oak moss, citrus and patchouli enrich the sweet, earthy aromas.
(Examples: Gossip (Cindy Adams), Red (Giorgio), Miss Dior (Dior), & Caleche (Hermes))

Green -- Sharp, grassy notes blend with pine, juniper, leaves and herbs to create memorable perfumes. Sporty and brisk, the type is a traditional daytime favorite.
(Examples: Safari (Ralph Lauren), G De Gigli (Romeo Gigli), Haute Couture (Hanae Mori), & So Pretty (Cartier))

Fougere -- French for fern and pronounced "foo-JHAIR", it's a combination of fresh herbs and mossy ferns come together in a sophisticated urban style. Long appreciated by European women, this fragrance group is now making an impact with men too.
(Examples: Cool Water (Davidoff), Blue Grass (Elizabeth Arden), Sport (Liz Claiborne), & Reserve (Perry Ellis))

Don't wear cologne to a business meeting. I don't wanna smell you in that context.

Please tell me you wear more than just cologne when you go out. You could catch a cold otherwise.:nono:

Oh yeah, I only have Acqua di Gio but rarely wear it.

be delicious by dkny is my next buy.

currently i own tommy summer = summerish of course, kinda fruity/fresh
kenneth cole black = good for going out/evening time
acqua di gio = also good for going out, but everyone is wearing it.
curve wave = also summer time fresh/fruity
armani black code = good for going out/evening time.

id say out of those, either kenneth cole black or the acqua di gio would be fair for a job interview. just lightly applied though.

If you wear cologne to a job interview, and I am the interviewer, that is one strike against you.
