I'm getting ready to buy a computer (because right now, the only access i have is at work) and i need some help on what kind to get. I don't know that much of technical info about computers, so i thought the easiest way to get help from you all would be just listing what i wanted to do with the computer. I also don't know if i should get a lap top or not.

basically i'm looking for something that can:

    burn music cd's quickly

    hold alot of music

hold alot videos..both long and short ( not an abundance, but enough that i
don't get bored easily)..... I want the videos to be clear when i watch them.

have ablity to use a webcam ( i don't know if you can use them on laptops)

whatever i'll get i'm gunna be using a cable modem or faster, so i'm gunna need something that will be compatable with that.

    thanks :x: :bigthumb:

get a dell/hp/gateway etc, but make sure it has an agp video card and a pentium 4/amd XP or 64. if you want a lot of storage and a the fastest burner available get a desktop.

and you can always upgrade a desktop with new video cards, more ram, NEC 2510 DVD burner.

btw you can use a webcam on a lappy, they are all usb now.

You should build your own. You will be much happier with the outcome, you will learn more about PC's, and you'll spend less money and get better equipment.

I suggest starting off with these(note, just a suggestion) all these prices are average

    AMD XP 2500 processor. ($80)
    Any DDR400 ram 2x256 = 512 ($100)
    A7N8X-deluxe motherboard ($120)

Any decent 128mb video card. ($120)

Not neccesary, but a plus, get two hard drives.
Drive 1 40gig for your OS and programs ($60)
    Drive 2 120gig+ for your music/videos ($110)

The Pioneer A07 DVD burner is a haus, does both DVD and CD's in case you were wondering.

And a case! I like www.xoxide.com the LanBoy is pretty cool, has some huge airflow.
