Just got my Remington 700 VSF. Guy shipped it disassembled, and I can't get the fucking trigger guard holes to line up flush with the magazine box in place. I can install everything fine without the magazine, but once I put it in there the shit won't line up. I feel like a moron because this shit is probably simple as fuck....is there some trick to it that I'm missing here?

I'd bet you drinks that you are putting shit in backwards/askew.

I have to leave in a sec, but try flipping things around. Make SURE that you are putting the spring/follower in the right way. The majority of stock 700's that "don't feed" are due to incorrect assembly; specifically at the spring/follower junction.

Google and see if you can't find proper assembly instructions, and go from there. If you can't get it by tomorrow, call me and I'll walk you through it.

**Edit** take some pictars if you get a chance.

I got it. I was trying to put the magazine on the bottom of the trigger guard, and insert that up into the stock/receiver.

Once I figured out that I had to attach the mag box to the receiver, then lay the stock over it and bolt down the trigger guard, I got it in about 5 seconds. Guess that's what happens after a long day of work and being so anxious to get this rifle together.

Good job. Now double check that you have the spring in correct.

The spring was already installed when I got it. I ran a few snap caps through it several times (if that means anything) and it seems to be fine.

Then he would design and sell a $50 jig to use for assembly so this would never happen again.
