I just mailed it away to Apple support. It's just out of warranty but we had an issue with the optical drive that we had fixed under warranty and now it seems to be acting up again. So they should fix it for free, and hopefully they'll find that my hard drive crashed or is out-of-place and replace that too. If not, I'm pretty much SOL.

Do you think Apple will open the computer up and see my hard drive's out of place or dead and fix it? Or will I just have to worry about that after they fix the optical drive issue?

On the HD, I can understand that and that's not a problem -- even if it's dead, we can replace it.

But on the CD drive, I think they'll do that pro bono seeing as it was just repaired under warranty and as of now that repair is faulty.

Well, the Apple support guy called yesterday and said it'd be repaired under warranty, free of charge due to the bottom casing being damaged and not replaced under warranty before.

I don't know what happened, but I know it's all getting done for free.

It's back with a new top and bottom casing, a new hard drive, and a new CD Drive.

I love the Fresh Install feeling.

I definitely did. I just had a similar issue but decided not to turn it over and remove the battery, I just waited and it ended up rebooting itself.

they'll open it up, the Hard Drive is just slotted in behind the battery. There is hardly any work to be done in checking it (which they will undoubtedly do)

the optical drive will probably be replaced for free under manufacturer's warranty, if your HD is bad they will probably replace that too

even if you're out of warranty they usually just do it for free
