I miss working for myself. Although I have been out of the loop for a while now. Has demand for detailing gone down by chance? Show / race cars were the majority of my customers with a few daily drivers here and there. I might quit my sales job and go back to detailing.

Keep your job IMO. Do it on the side/weekends until you get enough business to justify quiting your job.

Anyone that asks about detailing in Houston (at least once a week), I've been referring to you. :dunno:

My firebird has never been garaged so I'm looking to get some work done to it, too bad you guys are in Arlington and Houston instead of in Austin :wtc:

I come down to Austin to take care of Kdubb's and Acclude's cars. Get on the list with them the next time they want me to come down. I should be able to stay for 4 days total.

Seriously look into getting a rotary. I'd also have a PC for basic details but you need the rotary to fully correct harder paints. With 3M's Ultrafina and blue Ultrafina pad, you can finish out hologram free even on softer paints.

The demand definitely has not gone down. I moved away from where I started my detailing business (NE OH), for school and the phone never stopped ringing from referrals from previous customers I've had.

As for the rotary, I'm looking into getting a Hitachi Rotary due to the weight that my old Dewalt had, which is the reason I sold it on ebay...

Austin crew knows me better. ;)

Next time I come down to take care of Kdubb's stuff, I'll let you know. Maybe you can take care of them between full details?

I love my Dewalt but some people think it is too heavy and prefer the Makita and Hitachi.

i'm getting real fed up with my day job. The day I got back from vacation, I got reamed out. I'm ready to quit and go back to detailing. how long does it take to learn rotary? Whats the difference between the compounds used with a DACP and a rotary. My own car needs to be detailed so I can practice on that.

Not as easy as it looks. It takes years until you have enough word of mouth to do it full time.
