gun noob here, but have been shooting almost every week and my groups are dramatically improving.

month 1: bought a springfield xd9, first gun.
    month 2: bought a sig 226R and 22LR conversion

decided I'd like to pick up a couple of US milsurp for the historical aspect.

month 3: bought an underwood m1 carbine

sell all the handguns but one good one (probably the P226) and get a lot of ammo and some training courses

(PS - I read this as 'I bought an XD9 and a Sig P226 and then lost all sense of style and my sense and bought a ton of shit I'll never shoot that I will lose my ass on when I go to unload later)

maybe $1200 on ammo, mostly 9mm. still have 6 .22lr bulk packs. about 200 rounds of .30 carbine, and a box or two of .45

not sure of the cost of training yet, set up an appointment with the guy but haven't paid or met him yet (next week).

for some: no limit on private party transfers, but still subject to 10 day wait.
but now that I have C&R and california COE (certificate of eligibility), 1 in 30 no longer applies.

If you want to buy a ton of crappy handguns quickly, I suppose it is.

debatable, the state knows more about you then some would be comfortable with (fingerprints, etc)

only tangible benefit I can see is getting around the 1 in 30 rule.

oh wise one, please help educate a gun noob. What would transform my collection into something worthwhile?

    IB glock.

before guys on here go beserko, even with my noobish knowledge I acknowledge glock as a fine weapon, probably top dog in terms of reliability, and will probably add one or more to my collection over time. still not crazy about the grip angle, but too new to know any better.

no worries, I'm not going to take offense. it's just a hobby for me, and I don't need to use them in life threatening situations like some of you who serve.

I'll keep practicing, learning more from folks like you, and most importantly having fun/enjoying the hobby. :wavey:

compensator, perfectly legal. gun came with it, but will probably remove it before shooting. not keen on 3rd party add-ons that make outrageous claims.

I'm just giving you a hard time. Honestly though - the Sig and onward is going in reverse.

I'd keep the Sig and get proficient with it - ditch the rest. Or don't. But I don't think you'll shoot them a a bunch.

Just have fun and be safe. Get with Yar and shoot a USPSA match maybe.

no worries and thanks for the advice. I do primarily shoot the Sig, about once a week. The Sig is also the only one I have a magazine loaded for Home Defense.

I got the HK .45 because I can get "free" ammo from my uncle who is retired but and now spends the bulk of his time doing reloads. but he doesn't do 9mm, most .45

The berettas I got mostly as beauty queens. I don't plan on using them for HD or even shooting them much. Mostly for taking pictures of.

CZ I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I didn't buy it, traded a old macbook for it. i might just sell it, or store it in the safe for awhile...

The rifles I'm having a lot of fun with. even the wife enjoys shooting the .30 carbine.

Buy your uncle the dies for 9mm.

    Trust me.

And do you have pics of the CZ? My friend is looking to buy one to shoot USPSA with, if you were interested in selling it. He's OTer Phx Cobra.

Damn dude, I know when I first go into guns I wanted to out and buy everything, but that would have blow my budget for the month and required me to dip into my savings.

Did you buy the safe during this 3 month period as well?

Seriously though, my recommendation, slow down a bit, spend a little bit money on ammo or supplies (cleaning, storage, books, ect) and training like you already have. The familiarize yourself with each weapon, not just shooting it, but cleaning it, field stripping it ect.

If you are going to be in the hobby for the long haul and enjoy it, you could always get into reloading and since your uncles does it he could help you with the intitial learning curve. It gives you something gun related to do when you can't get to the range for whatever reason.

I have another 10 or 11 (good lord I am apparently going to break the 30 barrier) coming to me via inheritance and getting familiarized with those and getting them cleaned up is going to be a project for a while.

Are you single, because my GF would look at me like I was off my damn rocker if I went on that caliber buying spree, even though she loves the things, she raises an eyebrow each time I buy another one.
