Just sold it on eBay for a really good price. I didn't really wanna sell it, but I listed it with buy it now when it only cost 10 cents to list, and in that last hour somebody bought it with buy it now. Now he's sending me a cashiers check so I have some time to back my shit up. Are there any programs like Norton Ghost for the mac?

    kthx

It's the sale legit and all? I've had plenty of scammers hit my "buy it now" and offer to send me cashiers checks. Why not Paypal?

You can back it up by pluggin in an external HD or connecting a FW cable between the laptop & another Mac and boot using the target boot method.

When you're sure you got everything use the install disc and run Disk Utility and have it format the drive by zeroing it out. Thus you can't recover the data.

you can still recover data after a zero-fill, btw. Only real way to prevent data recovery is to replace the hdd and keep your old drive.

This guy is from Canada and I told him he could send me a cashiers check because I dont want to pay $50 in PayPal fees :o

okay, so you're saying that I can just copy all my programs and files and shit over into one file on my PC and if I try to put them all back on another mac they'll work 100% the same?

Oh and thanks for the advice for the disk utility, I'll do that :)

The target boot thing only works between Macs. The other options are onto an ext. drive or over the network to your PC.

You could use Carbon Copy Cloner. If you have an external drive, Carbon Copy Cloner will make a clone of your drive. It can boot from it and everything. It's free too.

basically under your HD, you'll see a Users folder. Your user should be in there, just dump that folder to another storage space and then dump it back once you get your new mac.

I don't know. I'm broke as hell so I might just get a dell or something. :wtc: If I can manage to get like $500 then I'll wait for the 13.3" MB to come out.

I would have your bank push to verify the check's authenticity before putting it towards your account or sending the laptop.

If losing $50 in Paypal would've been too much just charge him the extra $50 for shipping.

The total is $1075USD with shipping.

I think I'll call the issuing bank of the cashiers check to check it's authenticity...
