    Jcolman approval

working on the test shots... have to set the flash power manually which is a pain since it varies so much with the magnification. I think I'll be purchasing a canon off camera cord thing in the near future :hs:

the damage... I don't want to think about it :wtc:

some quick samples with mp-e 65

the last two were taken at 4x, f/16. they are very soft at 100% but not out of focus. I think it is caused by diffraction - the effective aperture is something ridiculously high like f/96 or something :dunno: should be sharper at f/5.6

the macro lens just makes it way too easy. I was using either reversed lens or 50mm in front of a tele before, with a combination of issues like vignetting, bad bokeh, or no control of diaphram

what settings did you use for the 580? Im having a tough time getting even lighting using it. Sometimes its good, most times its way to strong in the middle of the image.

it's a 430 ex. for macro I just put the head about 4 inches away from the subject and use the diffuser. try zooming it out if you get uneven lighting

it's pretty much impossible not to get dust to show when doing such extreme macro, since the aperture you use is so small. even the tiniest speck of dust shows up. the dust that is visible on those pics are nowhere close to being visible in normal shots.

gotta learn to spell the name correctly first.

This is why when I bought my domain name for my new bidness (jcolmanphotography) I had to buy both the spellings. (colman and coleman) People always get my name wrong.
