None of them allow anything with a magnetic projectile.

I should have specified, its the only surplus x54r that I can shoot.

Many places do not allow steel core ammo. The indoor places around me do not allow it either, the outdoor ones arent a problem.

Steel cores/jackets are supposedly a fire hazard. Lucky that the range allows FMJ - there is all of one range anywhere near me that allows FMJ (ricochet hazard - they can skip over berms rather than fragment like JHP and JSP).

Yea that is part of their rationale. The other is that it tears up their steel targets faster.

Orange County. I used to shoot at the SLOSA range in San Luis Obispo and while the establishment didnt want people using steel core, the RSOs never checked.

Yeah, there really isn't much around here for rifles, I usually just head out to the desert and shoot on BLM land. SLOSA was fine with steel core last time I went a few weeks ago so long as I wasn't shooting at their steel although that might have just been thanks to the RO working at the time; regardless that range puts everything around here to shame.

Any kinda of real shooting. Longest range is a 100yds bench only no more than one shoot every 2secs (even on pistol range) :ugh:

You're gonna need shoulder surgery by the time you shoot 1200 rounds through a 91/30.

When I was there I asked as to if steel core could be shot their and the rso said I don't really give a shit but be responsible, don't shoot our steel targets and beat them up and keep it to 100 yards in the summer to minimize the chance of sparking of a fire. so not to bad.

I love that range though with the cows that will walk out across the range around 350 yards and give absolutly no care to the fact that shots are being fired.

NRA range doesn't allow steel either. Tears the traps up, more prone to deflection.
