GUN I just had the best idea ever re: IPSC/IDPA

Discussion in 'On Topic' started by Market Garden, Oct 15, 2009.

  1. Why not make a HP bullet with such weak "walls" around the HP that the force of the air as the bullet flies is enough to make the thing expand. That way the "petals" cut a huge hole as the bullet passes through a target.

Probably tear up the barrel in the process.

Probably tear your mom up in the process.

  4. I wish I had the stuff to make jacketed bullets, I'd try it. I don't see how jacket material from the bullet would damage the barrel if it tried expanding seeing as the jacket material is already riding the barrel during normal firing.

could go either way. Bigger hole also means the closer it'll get to a no shoot.

if you want big holes, Wad cutters make holes big enough to see from 30 yards.

find a way to reload old primers! Or, find a product that can be made from all of the empty plastic trays that primers come in. I have enough to make you rich nga!

Package old Primers in empty trays/boxes.

Go to gun show a few states away, shake boxes around, sell as new.

    Profit?

If it expanded in midair, aerodynamics would go to shit and reduce the velocity extremely fast making it a horribly inaccurate round.

  10. Most of the shooting is at pretty close range.

I got an idea too that I've been thinking about. Make the bullet and gun as accurate as possible and make the it cycle as fast as possible. then everything will be just a matter of the shooter as it's not like somebody out equipmented you. Despite marketing hype typically that doesn't happen at pistol matches.

I know a guy who loaded up some cheap .223 hollow points, and they did that. Granted, they were pretty hot loads, but expanded right out of the barrel and he couldn't hit shit with them.

    Jacket separation?

AAC warns about that with lightweight bullets when using their cans.

    lololol.... Seriously!?!

If that's not a testament against using shitty cup/core bullets, I don't know what is.

i've seen jacket seperation blow up comp on pistols. I've pushed plated bullets fast enough that it seperates. If it hits the target it keyholes.

  18. I heard a story once, don't know if it's true... a guy was fireforming cases in his rifle with the oatmeal/patch method and at some point the patch caught his brake and tore it (the brake) up.

I guess it is possible. The jacket on a bullet is not very hard either.
