it's been about a year since I've gotten to train regularly with someone better than me at bjj, I've just been training up newbies at the dojo I work at and have been working too much to crosstrain, but my instructors have set up to pay for monthly privates with phil cardella, the guy who I had crosstrained my grappling with in the past.

we spent an hour today with him picking over my game and initiated a massive jiu jitsu data transfer. my head is about to explode with good information, it's really gonna be awesome. I've never had a private with him before, it's something else to get a black belt's undivided attention for a whole hour. and yes I took notes :bigthumb:

yeah I'm gonna do this 2x a month hopefully till the end of time. My instructors are paying for one a month and I'm gonna pay for the other, and phil is giving me a special rate since our academies are affiliated.

I know for a fact that I've forgotten more jiu jitsu than I can effectively apply. I wish I had gotten on the note-taking train a LOT sooner

I'm on my second 3-ring binder of tequniques, thoughts, sayings, advice, anything that stands out or that I need to work on. I just wish I had started earlier and could read my writeing better. One day I'm going to get it all typed out... :x:

I didn't take notes, but I have created a big word document where I'm slowly compiling all the knowledge I can remember...

I think it would be way weird to have a pen and pad on the mat. I have a small notepad that I keep all my lifting and training logs in, so I just jot in it before it leaves my mind.

yeah I just keep a pen and composition book in my gym bag, take it with me, and after the lessons are done, write down everything I can remember
