I finally went and ponied up the $79 for the wireless keybloard today and when I tried to set it up ... no dice. Couldn't figure out why not so called up Apple Care and sho'nuf, my 17" iMac didn't come with a Bluetooth device when I bought it.

Now if I want to still use it I have to buy a Belkin bluetooth receiver for about $40 :wtc: :weak:

They didn't come with Bluetooth standard before 2006 but it was always an option. I had BT on my 15" Aluminum PowerBook G4 when I bought it december of 2003.

It's typically a small module you can add yourself. Around the airport card/memory slot under the keyboard.

    1. buy the bt module from ebay or somewhere and install it yourself
    2. buy a cheap usb bt dongle

Those are ridiculously beautiful, I saw a bunch of them at the Apple Store when I was there to buy the keyboard. Trouble is that my iMac runs just fine, practically like the day I bought it (April 2004) so I don't have any real reason to upgrade.
