I just designed my Ideal Combat Knife :pICS: Critique my design :o

I Included all the various grips because most people really only think about two of them, when all five grips can usually be used on most knives except larger more cumbersome knives, and each grip has particular advantages and uses in a Combat Situation.

It's better (IMO) to train to be able to fight with a knife how ever you happen to pick it up, rather than having to worry about changing grips during the fight, and I wanted to design a knife that would be easy to use in any of the five, yet would still call for unique techniques in each position.

Let me know what you think!

EDIT: BTW there is actually a sixth grip which isnt shown which is the same as grip # 4 except the knife front edge is facing the opposite direction. It takes more training to fight this way as well as with the suicide grip, but again both have there own advantages and disadvantages.

interesting, looks like it could be small enough blade wise to actually be 50 state carry legal. find a blacksmith and make it real!

Looks really slick, but knife fighting = teh lose. If you are in a knife fight, you will get cut, and I don't like getting cut. But if there is no other choice, I wouldn't mind having that knife, with a bit longer blade, and about 20 years of training.

I have been practicing Kali Silat which is a Filipino blade fighting system. Its the method they are training Matt Damon in for his movies the Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy. Anyway when you really start training with knives you find out that having a large knife is very cumbersome and can be to slow and awkward for the speed of fighting that fighting with a knife necessitates.

True that on the will get cut thing though. All it takes is small cut which takes so little force, and you can achieve lightheadedness and unconsciousness in your opponent in minutes, or a fatal wound pretty much immediately.

Yeah my goal was to find a knife that was 50 state leagal... I think that I could scale the one I was thinking of down to size... but its tough to retain the same features
