    from godaddy.

    Now what?

I have no idea what I'm doing. I'd like to do an informational website and potentially add products down the road.

Do I need to get a new host? What software should I get to design it?

Anything you guys can recommend would be appreciated.

Are you using Godaddy as the host too? Many will say that you don't want to host your website at the same place where you register your domain. Aside from that Godaddy sucks as a host.

Are wanting to learn and create everything from scratch or have you looked at CMS applications? Whats your level of knowledge?

I am wanting to create everything from scratch. My level of knowledge is nil. I can figure it out if I'm pointed in the right direction, but I really dont know shit.

Who would you recommend as a host?

You bought a domain, not a URL.

Do you know any HTML? Get Frontpage or Dreamweaver and start designing your site using the software.

As for hosting, I use hostgator.com.

    Simple

    a) Get a blog account
    b) Forward the url to that blog
    c) Pick a topic i.e. jokes
    d) Troll OT/reddit/digg/other blogs and any time you see an interesting thread for that topic post a new blog post with copy pasta from that thread
    e) submit your blog posts to reddit, digg. And if you see something on reddit/digg thats not on OT, make a thread on OT about it.
    f) Add adsense to your blog
    g) start making money
    h) hire some people to create blogs under your brand and fill them with crap.
    i.e:
    tech.kungfool.com
    tvs.kungfool.com
    i) add relevant amazon affiliate links
    j) profit

I have a very similar question. I know some HTML and I want to make a site. If I sign up at hostgator do you get to choose your url like www.myname.com?

    I'm PC...
Where can I register a domain like www.myname.com cheaply? And build a site. I plan on doing all the html on my own and just uploading it via winscp?
