I have a tripod... I'm guessing a new lens is needed. Any suggestions?

yes, you probably need a canon 1200mm f/5.6. thats the best starter lens money can buy.

I don't consider those lenses. :mamoru:. I don't really think you need a tele one - the the wide angle is okay for now. Just learn to use the camera first.

Cliffs - don't be a gear whore, just go shoot.

I didn't get a good shot from my old XT for like a month - it'll come in time. It's hard for me to believe that was only a year ago.

Learn all the settings and what they do. Use people on here for help - if they flame u, just take it and move on.

    thats pretty good advice

eventually you will want an external flash I know the g9 can handle one, besides that I don't think you would need anything else, jsut practice practice practice
