    -------

So as the title says I bought a 7 speed blender today so I could try some of the high cal shakes posted. I tried the one angryguy posted which is:

    1 cup of oats
    2 scoops of whey
3 tablespoons of oil of your choice
1-3 table spoons of sugar for taste.
blend in 15-20 floz of milk

    This is what I did:

    1 cup of oats
    2 scoops of whey
    2 tablespoons of flax oil
    no sugar
    blended with 16oz milk

I blended it for a good 45 seconds (how long am I supposed to blend this for? never had a blender before) it looked OK until I tried to drink it. too many damn oat chunks! The taste didnt bother me its just those damn oats, they were clogging my throat and I could not physically get it down any more than a bit at a time.

Am I not using enough milk? Not blending it long enough? ( i tried blending more didnt help) does my blender suck? should I add water or something?

    thanks

keep swirling it around as you drink it so the oat chunks don't sink to the bottom.

In mine, it's 3 cups of oatmeal to 64oz of water

It's actually better and easier to put down when it's thick. I used to add bananas and made this shake all the time

(20oz milk, 1 banana, 2 scoops whey, 1 cup oats, 4 tbsp natty PB)

Thats one of the best shakes EVER

    Word.

Here's how I make the shake (one of two ways):

    Add 1 cup of oats
Blend, tilt blender around so it gets well mixed up
    Add milk
    Blend
    Add whey and oil
    Blend

Or you can do it like this:
    Add 1 cup oats
Add about 1/3 of the milk.
Blend. It should be the consistancy of mud
    Add rest of milk
    Blend
    Add whey and oil
    Blend

I pour it into a measuring cup afterwards and chug it. Ends up coming out to about 24-28 ounces.

Keep in mind that with the first method, you want the oats to be the consistancy of powder before you add the milk. If it's still too thick, I find blending in a liitle bit of water at the end (maybe an ounce or two) really thins it out.

    Good luck.

:werd: A mini food processor works really well for this. You want the oats to be powdery before you put them in the blender with the rest of your shake

I keep a tupperware container filled with preblended oats :mamoru:

I use about 20-25oz of liquid per 1 cup of oats or 2 cups of soggy cooked rice
