    I own the .info :o and it's now a pr3 and gets a decent amount of traffic from google. as the title says I just got the .com and want to switch everything over. I know how to move a wordpress install but how do I keep the links intact?

    If the come to the site from

    domain.info/this-is-a-post

    how can I make it redirect them to

    domain.com/this-is-a-post without any errors

    301 redirect?

    put a index.php file on your info site

    have the php file contain only:

    <?php
    header('Location: http://www.yoursitename.com', true, 301);
    ?>

    wouldn't that just redirect all links to domain.com?

    you can setup a gateway for your site on the .info domain.

    <?PHP
    $routes = array(
    'http://www.mysite.info/page1.html'=>'mysite.com/page1.html',
    'http://www.mysite.info/page2.html'=>'mysite.com/page2.html',
    'http://www.mysite.info/page3.html'=>'mysite.com/page3.html',);

    if (array_key_exists($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'],$routes)){
    header('Location: http://'. $routes[$_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']]);
    }else{
    header('Location: http://mysite.com/');
    }
    exit;

    ?>

    basically it'll check the referrer of every incoming user, and if they are incoming from your old site, it'll just forward them to the appropriate page. So:

    if you are coming from mysite.info/page1.html, you'll send them to mysite.com/circlejerk.php, which then will automatically forward them to mysite.com/page1.html

    Park the domain on your existing hosting account for the .info

    Then setup mod_rewrite in your .htaccess to rewrite the URLs from the .info to the .com.

    This is the proper way to do it.

    .htaccess on the .info with this in it:

    Code:
    Options +FollowSymLinks
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.info$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    Will divert www.domain.info/whatever to www.domain.com/whatever

    Example of the source and redirect path?

    Its easy to get up to pr3, seems to be harder to go past that though. I've had a pr5 which was my highest.:o

    get a bunch of relevant backlinks, post fresh content and you'll get your pr. I like to comment on blogs and leave a link to my site. this site in particular is a help type of site so it gets posted on a bunch of forums every now and then
