i havent touched a weight since 8/30/06

    my theory: several factors have kept me away from the gym

    - that ive been having too much fun and have been too happy, focusing on other aspects of my life and just not feeling the need to exert myself physically.

    - ive lost alot of the aggression that once motivated me, i stopped fighting months ago and decided to just focus on yoga, weights and running in the future. i just dont think i have the "personality" for fighting anymore, as much as i always loved it. im much more of a "lover" than a "fighter" now

    - at my last workout... i reached all of my goals in one workout... ran a 5:30 minute mile, benched 245, squatted 365, deadlifted 405, and did 30 pullups the day before, also cleaning 205 easy for the first time. possible that reaching those goals made me lose interest? not sure (i know those numbers are infantile compared to the elite community here... but its what i was striving for)


    im just wondering if anyone else has any stories to share about instances like this where youve questioned your reasons for hardcore lifting, and how youve overcome motivation problems similar to mine if youve ever had them.

    yeah, i used to be like that! ive really gone through some serious personality changes... all for the better in every regard except when it comes to lifting nowadays

    ive been thinking about some:

    265 bench
    365x5 squat
    405 dl (maintain)
    205 clean press

    5:00 min mile flat

    go deep into yoga

    maybe just talking about it here is even helping, i havent been on offtopic in FOREVER

    woke up at 5 am and couldn't sleep so i did it then, came home and slept til noon

    so since then feels like forever

    Some where out there someone is working their ass off in the gym. He is superior to you, both physically and mentally. You have no one to blame but yourself.

    I haven't been in the gym to really lift other than some light bullcrap to try and help my back recover in almost 2 weeks. Stupid ass torn/pulled/ messed up muscle in my back that I really need to just let heal up before I keep on lifting.

    i havent had a consistent workout schedule for a couple months now. my desk job is starting to hold me back and i see a couple pounds coming back on, and im sure its not muscle since i have only gone to the gym maybe a dozen times since being here (in madison). so im starting to get more motivated to go join the gym, and the thought of forking out my money and not using their facilities is not something i like, so as long as i can take myself to the gym and sign up, i know ill go.
