    Start running then.

8 minutes a mile shouldn't be that difficult.

Endurance issues I guess. But I never train for it or run. Im going to hit it hard so I pass the first time.

That was my fault. I thought you could touch but apparently you arn't supposed to. :o :greddy:

As for the running, c'mon man. I could easily do the first mile under 9 min in highschool and I was chubby and out of shape!

Start now! First you have to find out what your 2 mile time is I suppose, have you tried yet?

EDIT: I saw 10 min for the first (or each?) mile. Should be easy to get quicker. :)

If 8:16 miles are your goal and you are having a tough time with that, the only thing you can do is just run more and more. Once you get some better endurance mix in some stairs at a local high school football field and some varied speed sprints and such

Well if you need to run a timed 2 miles.....train by running 3. It gets your body ready in a hurry. 2 weeks out from your test, run a timed 2mi. Your pace will naturally be faster because your body KNOWS you are running a shorter distance than it is accustom to. Make sure no running 2-3 days before the test.

You can do it pretty easy I am sure. 20min down to 16 is cake. 16-14 a little tougher. 14-12 requires some work....and sub 10 min on 2 miles is pretty good.

As an example, at 18 in the service I had to run 2 mi in 15:54 just to PASS. My time at the beginning of basic was horrid, like 21:20 or something. 8 weeks later, 12:40 and at the end of MP school...I was running 11:30 - 11:50s.

If you want it bad enough....you'll do the work for it.

Like everyone else says, you have to run to run. Start off slow, with moderate distances. Try to set a goal for yourself, 30 seconds shaved off each mile per week. You have 3 months to get there, I'm sure it won't be too hard.

Yea just start out running what you can. I ran/walked the distance I needed to go. I just kept cutting down the walk time. I have only been running a couple weeks and I can do 2 miles ok now.
