GUN I have the worst luck :wtc:

Discussion in 'On Topic' started by Market Garden, Jul 25, 2008.

  1. So I called my favorite local gun shop at about noon today to see if they had a Ruger 22/45 with a 5.5 inch barrel and the blued finish. The guy goes to check and comes back and says they have one. Great. I decide to leave work a little early (4:30) to go pick it up. I get there and there's 1 other person in the gun shop. I'm sure you can see where this is going... I walk over to the case where the .22s are and take a look. There's a target model MKII and a MKIII hunter with an empty space between them. I talk to the guy at the counter, who turns out to be the guy I talked to on the phone. He swore they had one when I talked to him, so he goes to ask the other employee if they've sold a 22/45 today. It turns out the guy that was in the gun shop when I arrived just bought the thing! :wtc:

That's all. I just wanted to tell my story of woe. What are the odds that a gun shop would sell a certain gun within a few hours in the middle of a weekday? They did have some really nice Sigs that I was oogling, I'm starting to like the 229 Elite. :noes:

bummer man, that sucks. can they order you another one?

  3. Yeah, I had them order one, and I paid for it. It should be in middle of next week. It's fine because I won't have the chance to shoot it until next weekend anyways, but I wanted it now. :hs:

That's happened to me before. I just had them order the gun from their vendor and it came in the next day.

Well, at least you weren't planning on shooting today. Enjoy the gun when you get it :)

  7. Thanks. I don't have any sort of .22 pistol, and I figure every gun person should have at least 1 .22 pistol.

what did what run me? i didn't buy anything. :bigthumb:

i think you got me mixed up with the OP.

but yes, immediate gratification is nice. walk in the fun shop with cash in hand, and walk out with a firearm in less than 20 minutes. :hsd:

and it only takes me 20 minutes because my ssn is too close with someone that has a criminal background and they always have to wait for a phone call back from the state police to give the thumbsup. otherwise it would be about 10 minutes. :p

:bowrofl: i fucking hate that "cool off period" shit.

first off, it has probably never prevented someone from getting a gun in anger and committing a crime, and secondly, what about the countless people who ALREADY own guns and want a 2nd or 10th? :hsughno: i guess they'll have to restrain from using one of the few they have, and wait 10 days to commit their crime :ugh2:

  21. But doesn't it make you feel safer?

Where'd you pick it up from? Marksman has some of the best prices on the Hunter and I know I seen a ton of them in stock.

You also realize we have .22 action pistol matches at Renton too? :)

  24. I got it from Adventure sports in Mountlake Terrace. Their $269 price was right in line with most of the good prices on the internet. I'd love to shoot a .22 match at Renton!
