Ok so I am getting 3 paychecks this month and am ahead on my bills so I am going to take about 600 bucks or so from this check and buy myself some camera things. But unsure where my money would be spent best.

    I am thinking
    1) Tokina 11-16 f2.8
    2) 10-22
    3) 85 1.8 and 50 1.4
    4) sell my 40d, grip, and shutter release and betteries and take the money from the sale and add to it and purchase a 7d
    5) a good p&s like the SX1 IS

my other lenses I own are

    70-200 f4 IS
    17-55 f2.8
    50 1.8

I also thought about waiting to see what the sigma 85 f1.4 price is coming in at and maybe wait

I would get the 7d, but that is just me, and I have bad G.A.S.

there is supposedly a 50 1.4 II coming out, so if I were in the market for a faster/better 50, I would wait ad see how that goes

the sigma 85 1.4 would be bad ass, but people on potn think it will cost nearly a grand.. chances are it isnt going to be worth almost 3X what the 85 1.8 costs.. but only time will tell on that

Of those, the Tokina 11-16 and Canon 85mm are the best. I have both and love them equally.

40d is fine. get glass, you'll definitely appreciate it more.

i would go with either of the wide angles or the 85 and 50 primes.

My lens collection consists of the exact same (minus the IS on the f/4 70-200) except I have a 10-22 as well.

I say go for the tokina or canon wide angle

I dont think I would ever go full frame. I am just not that kind of photographer. And I personally would love to just get the 85 and the 11-16. I theink the gear whore in me wants the 7d more than my needs from a camera do.

i love my 85 1.8. i didn't really like my 50mm, i just didn't care for the focal length. then again, 90% of the pictures i take are portraits of my kids and the 85 just works better for that than the 50 did. i always felt like i had to get too close to get head shot portraits and if i'm going to be doing full body or wider angle shots, i use my 17-40.
