They open in QuickTime Player, but won't play because the "required compressor could not be found." I was thinking they might be DiVX, but even the DiVX decoder can't recognize them. I'm sure these are good files, another OT sent me them.

:wtc: What do I need to do with these to watch them? I've never been able to open AVI files, it's just never been important until now.

Thanks. What a weird little program, though... So I should only use this for viewing AVIs? What about my DiVX validator? Any need for that around anymore?

Vlc is the only player you'll need besides quicktime.

OK. FYI, DiVX Validator isn't a player though.

Also, is there anyway to make AVIs automatically open in VLC?

Get info on any AVI file, change the program to VLC, hit the change all button.

The DivX codec is also available for QuickTime as well (www.divx.com), in case you want to consolidate your viewing into one single media player.

But I am partial to VLC too, I just thought I'd offer you an alternative. :p

Thanks. I don't really like the VLC program, it's just weird.
