    wtf.

after last weeks personal best of 365 raw deadlift, my body hurted . i thought i severly fucked up my back or something, then a couple of days ago, blisters appered on one singal dermatomal region (left side, under pectorial, wrapping around ribs, going to spine.... T5 dorsal nerve is my guess). looks fucking wierd. with a little interneting, i've come to the conclusion i have shingles. i had chicken pox when i was in 4th grade, now 25. i thought mostly people over 60 get shingles?

i've been tired as hell, and have not been to the gym at all. i think i've been sleeping 15+ hours a day for about 3-4 days.

anybody have any experiences or tips?

eager to get back into gym and get my total past 1000 raw.

Shingles = a form of herpies.

Go to your Dr and get some anti-viral meds. Or pain killers + anti-inflammatories.

is it nessessary? i kinda broke and no health insurence :hs: won't it go away on its own sometime? anti-viral meds are just a general type of drug for viral infections right? i try to stay away from drugs as much as i can also.

this shit hurts but i think i can handle it. i've read rubbing capsaicin helps reduce pain?

Be glad that you got them young. They tend to be MUCH MUCH worse when your older. I got them when I was 15. Went and got some shots I believe or pills, can't remember. It sucked though, your nerve endings get irratated as crap and its like having a REALLY bad sunburn but your skin is even more sensitive when touched.

i think its rare that shingles can spread. with the research i've done so far, im just lucky it was a lower nerve that got infected and not a cranial or cervical nerve.

i'm a healthy guy, and i can tell its getting better already, i don't think it should scar.

I had shingles last summer on T2 and T3 I believe. In my armpit and shit.

I got the worst fever & shakes, but that was about it. Prior to this I had wrecked on my dirtbike and jacked up my shoulder a bit. It's plausible that the injury caused the virus to become active for some reason.

Basically I would put anti-biotic ointment on them so they wouldn't get infected.

Went to the doctor and was prescribed 21 days of Valtrex :eek5:.

You can imagine how I felt picking that up :coold:.

Also, they occur by Dermatomes, here's a map :o:

People always talked about how painful they are supposed to be, they weren't that bad really, just the fever :(.

yeah you should take an anti-viral like acyclovir or the cheaper gancyclovir. I saw a patient in the hospital and that shit can get progressively worse, although with time, it should dissapear...

Yes, Valtrex the genital herpes stuff. It's oral, gigantic blue horse pill.

It was pretty embarassing, the pharmacist was all sly about not saying what it was. So I blurted out, "YEA I HAVE SHINGLES!" Then he's like, "Oh, haha, ok."

It was like $225 before insurance :eek5:.

As you probably already know, shingles is caused by the herpes zoster virus, so it makes sense that they'd use this stuff :o.

Have yours stayed on your back or have they come to the front yet? They can get worse and worse if they aren't handled.
