Says the audio device is working properly and everything. I have a windows xp using realtek and all the drivers are installed and everything.

I tried clicking on volume in audio properties and it says 'windows cannot execute sndvol32.exe, use add/remove programs to install.' But I cant find it in add programs.

:dunno: everything was fine and I switched monitors and it worked and then about a day later all of a sudden I didn't have sound. I don't think switching monitors has anything to do with it but my speakers work fine and my audio device works fine with all the updated drivers on it. There is a thing called sound effect manager with realtek and it has a bunch of options that I don't ever mess with but maybe I have to now because of the monitor??? I reallly am bad with computers, sorry.

so, for all of you super tech support people, how about you ask him some questions to help get the information that you would need to help him? he obviously is stuck. jesus. i feel bad for people who come here for advice and just end up getting ridiculed by the assholes who feel so superior for having a knowledge of computers.

I had that very same problem in my laptop. XP did an update and fucked up my sound. Everything was working fine but I was getting no sound. My sound icon dissapeared though. I tried looking for that driver, downloaded off the web, and installed it but didn't do shit.

    I ended up reformatting.

is soudn effect manager a blue program with childish like buttons and text? if so i think i have something similar.

defintiely not your speakers (if its a desktop?)??

firs try rolling back the drivers in device manager then
uh try uninstalling the drivers in device manager
restarting and reinstalling and restarting, just kind of throwing that out there. go the manufactorers website and find the drivers before you uninstall them

eventually i might give up, backup my shit, and reformat. but if you dont wanna do that, give us some info about your model computer and actually, tech support might be able to help too (not to be a dick, seriously, they might be able to solve this quicker, depending on the company you're dealing with)

sorry man, i'm not a PC kind of guy, or at least haven't been in about 10 years. in the past i have helped ask questions to get info out of a person, but i've been out of the game too long to be all that useful. now, a UNIX question i could actually be useful in.

alright, I'll extend the bet. If you can get it working in Solaris, that will be accepted as having satisifed the bet. Deal?
