They don't seem to have any connection with each other so I honestly don't think it matters...

it doesnt really matter where you start because the stories are not connected.

you might want to start with 4 and 6 or you might want to start with 7 if you are more of a graphics whore

6 is the best in the entire series so you might want to start with the best to really get into it

7 is more noob friendly and holds your hand for the first disc of the game so that might be a better way to go also

4 is the hardest out of the 3

Like others have said, they don't share stories, so it doesn't really matter. Only X and X-2 were related.

to be perfectly honest, anything from 4-10 will be a good game. blitzball in X alone makes it completely worth while

    i technically started with 7..

i played some of the others but i couldnt get into the castles knights and wizards theme.. when 7 came out and it was all military and steam punk i was like "ooo whats this?" and i beat it.. twice.. and it was amazing both times  and then i tryed 8 .. .meh.. 9 lost me agian(castles wizards such).. missed out 10 suppost to be really good meaning to go back. 12 looked stupid and 13 looks sweet but Verses 13 looks even better!

*gasp* and thats final fantasy in a nutshell by me

Start with 7 or 10, those are the most mainstream Final Fantasy games. The rest are excellent games, however.

I started with 7 and followed with 8, that made it for me. I got into the series pretty quickly and I have played all main series FF games (except XI, CBA with MMORPGs).

Seems to be a general consensus on where to start but make sure you absolutely play FFTactics . PSP version if possible. PSone's translation was butchered.

I started with X then X2 then picked up VII but haven't played much of it then played XII. So far though I think XII is the best. I wanted to SHOOT someone every time a fucking random encounter happened in the others. Most bullshit thing of any game EVER. Couldn't walk 10 steps without a 5 minute long battle.

:werd: nothing more annoying than having the shit kicked outta you and you trying to make it to a safe haven with almost no healing items, and have no choice but to fight something because of random encounters.

and its always in these moments too that you run into that enemy that you cant escape from.
