So I have my first MMA fight in April of this year. It's going to be promoted in Santa Barbara, the details aren't exactly 100% clear, but I know the promoter and he's still getting a few things here and there done. I'll let you guys know when tickets and location are available.

Anyway, I will be fighting at 145lbs. Tips, advice and other things will be appreciated.

    Stats:

    HT: 5'10"
    WT: 145lbs
Styles: TKD 8 years, MT 3 years, Japanese Jiujitsu a little over a year, will be training with a nationally ranked Judoka who does MMA up until the fight.

Tonight I sparred 10x4 minute rounds. I was good until about the 5th round when I was starting to gas. I have extremely good Cardio but I want to be able to eventually complete the 10 rounds so when I fight the 2 rounds it won't be that big of a deal.

    Thanks all!

Rules are Unified MMA rules ala http://www.ufc.com

He's trying to get a cage, but most likely it'll be a ring.

focus on your cardio the worst thing that can happen to a fighter is getting winded before a fight is over look at what happened to bj penn. Try to do 2 or more hours of cardio a day. Do weights as well, dont focus on lifting big focus on extremely high reps to build muscle indurance because thats what you need. My routine consists of light weights with 5 sets of 20 reps

You want should I do a training log?

    January 19th, 2007:

    - Ran two miles today. First day in a few weeks I could, the weather here has been at around 23* Farenheit and I have asthma and it was hurting like shit to run.

My biggest piece of advice is like everyone elses. CARDIO.

Don't run distance, run sprints. I run 3 mile warm up and then sprint a half mile every day(5 days a week). Running dead out spring for a half mile blows but it works. And by the end your not really running any more...your kinda speed walking, lol, but it is great for your cardio.

Good advice from everybody here, and since you're working with a nationally ranked judoka (swain, morris or pedro?)

Drill the hell out of Ippon Seoi Nage + Uchimata in no-gi applications. Good luck on the match!

At the time, I wasn't really paying all too much attention to him when he offered to train me, but his family has a long history of Judo and he is Japanese. I forget if he said his brother or him who went to Japan for the Judo Invitational or whatever it is. Regardless, this dude's going to be out for a while, he just got 4 disc's removed from his neck, but he is still going to train me. It'll be awesome. His family name is Sakazashi or something like that. I'm really bad with Japanese family names.

You cannot work your aeorbic and anaerobic conditioning enough. With the time that you have and the training that you have done, without seeing you spar, work on your hands and ground game more. They are probably your weaknesses.

Also try putting on a little lean muscle mass with the time that you have with you already being at your fight weight. How many hours roughly are weigh ins from the fight?

Sorry, don't have time to read through the thread.

    Why's that? Care to explain?

Also, I will be getting some body paint and putting, "Let's boogie" on my chest and on my back, "If you can read this, I screwed up."
