She surprised me by ordering the Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition gift set (all 3 rulebooks) for my birthday. We're going backpacking this weekend so I won't be here when it arrives. But it will be waiting for me when we get back.

Plus, she bought it on Amazon, so it was almost $40 cheaper.

    Product Description
All three 4th Edition core rulebooks in one handsome slipcase.

The Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game has defined the medieval fantasy genre and the tabletop RPG industry for more than 30 years. In the D&D game, players create characters that band together to explore dungeons, slay monsters, and find treasure. The 4th Edition D&D rules offer the best possible play experience by presenting exciting character options, an elegant and robust rules system, and handy storytelling tools for the Dungeon Master.

This gift set provides all three 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons core rulebooks (Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual) in a handsome slipcase that looks great on any bookshelf.

Pics of the awesome wife in question.

I got them a while back. While I'm sure it's fun and I like that the system is more streamlined, I don't like the fact that it's more a tactical miniatures game than anything else.

I'm currently creating a hybrid ruleset with stuff from 3.5, Paizo's Pathfinder (which is an offshoot of the 3.5 d20 system) and 4E.

What I'm really interested in is how the online gaming table thing is going to work, as I've got two out of town friends that would be interested in gaming again.:x:
