But I need to work out today. Any risks (besides pain) of working out with a knot in your muscles?

It would help if we knew what you were planning on doing at the gym today. If you're doing arms it should be fine. If you're doing squats, deadlifts, and power cleans, then it might be in your best interest to skip a day.
just gonna knot it up worse.
but knock yourself out. literally.
I've had that happen about 400 million times. Just warm up thoroughly and don't be a hero. Often times sq/dl/shrugs will end up loosening it up for me. Again, don't be stupid, ease into it.
