In about an hour and a half, I'll be trading that pile of money for a 1973 Datsun 240Z with a 3.0L Rebello :big grin:

    250whp on a sub 2400lb car ftw.

Dude, that thing is immaculate. I'd prefer newer wheels and a metallic paint job, but as good as that car looks I'd be afraid to fuck up the paint it has in case the repaint goes bad and lets the body rust out.

thats a pretty clean Z. i had 2 friends who both had 240's and they where both going to restore them, both ended up selling them. which is a shame because they are some cool cars.

for a long time, yah. I might eventually turbo it, but for a long time, it'll stay the way it is. There is a list of other stuff I need to work on first :hsd:

It does actually need a new paint job. That'll probably wait till the summer though.

So, late at night, I worked up the list of work I need to do on the car :/

    High Priority stuff:
Fix my throttle cable to gain that extra 30hp that I lose by not having WOT
Fix my speedo. I think it is just the sensor is for a taller rear end, easy fix
See if I can get my headlights brighter. New Bulbs, more juice to them, HID projectors, whatever, I drive enough at night to need more light
Fix my blinkers so that they actually blink and don't just come on and stay on

    Medium Priority:
Fix my Amp/Fuel gauge light so that it works
Brighten up the dash lights in general a little
Adjust the parking brake so that I don't need to go full travel to engage it
    New wiper blades

    Low Priority:
Get a new handle that goes on the end of the hood release, old one broke off partly
Clean up the rear hatch release so that it is easier to close/latch (just pull it apart, remove the rust from it, grease it, and re-install)
Pull off all the previous owner's auto club stickers from the windows
Fix the High beam control stem (currently have to push forward then pull back to switch b/w high and low)
    Fix the dash clock.

Ah well, I'm sure that there will be more along the way.

reposted from the 'went out for milk' thread I made yesterday.

As for 250whp. The guys at rebello have said that once the throttle cable is fixed, to call them, because that means something is wrong with the engine :eek3: Customer service ftw.

    Engine shots:

Some other info about the engine:
    ~9.8:1 compression ratio
    cam duration .275
cam lift: .487 (this is almost the max a L series engine can run without piston work)
Redlines at or above 7,500 :eek5:
    triple mikuni 44mm carbs :eek5:
also has a amsoil bypass setup (or whatever the name is), so that it has a second filter that gets stuff down to even a lower level than a normal filter, so I can run synthetic for like 15k+ miles on a single oil change :eek3:

jesus fuck I love this car. Woke my lazy, vacationing college student ass up at 8am for a 3 hour drive :big grin:

there are some issues with the exterior, like fading paint, small rust spot on the hood for some reason, cracked front diffuser, but the actual mechanicals (engine, rear end, gear box, suspension), are nearly new, and that is the important part :big grin:

Hell, the engine is probably worth more than the rest of the car, and might even be worth more than I paid for the entire car :noes:

WOOT! its fucking sunny out now, brb, going to go gas up and go for a drive in the mountains :big grin:

I was just poking around underhood today, and jesus, it looks even better in person. :big grin:

Sure, it needs to paint, the interior needs some work, but the engine, tranny, and suspension are all in great condition. Ie: the important stuff really works :big grin:
