i hate people who don't touch their chest with the bar while benching

    I watched this guy in the gym bench today. He was attemping to bench about 215, but this fucker maybe brought the bar down 4 inches. It was pitiful. Then I saw him do incline with about 205 and he didn't even bring the bar past his eyes. After that I saw him try to do dumbbell bench with 110's and he barely bent his elbows. I just wanted to sock him in his face.

    How big could someone who's only bringing 215 down 4 inches possibly be?

    if you were minding your own business and concentrating on your own workout you wouldn't have realized this was going on. You need to work on your concentration a little more inside the gym.

    I stopped long time ago. Hey, when they get hurt or fail to see gains they'll realize what they are doing wrong. Or maybe not....not your problem.

    I don't actually touch my chest. I probally go down to like 1/4 inch from it and then go back up so I'm not tempted to bounce it. :dunno:

    why not just go all the way down and not bounce?

    I sometimes don't go all the way down on the last few reps if I don't have a spotter :dunno:

    if i dont have a spotter i wont touch my chest. I'll bring it down about 1" to it. With a spotter it's all the way down ftw

    you should have offered to spot him & then pushed it down.

    I end up bouncing it when I get tired. It just keeps me from even doing it at all if I do it this way. :dunno: Works for me.

    im not disagreeing or agreeing here. but i posted a thread about this similar situation of people not bringing the bar all the way down. responses ive got were maybe he was concentrating on contracting his chest?

    their is a man at the gym i attend with a huge chest that ALWAYS goes less than a feet down everytime he benches.

    I like to switch it up, one week I'll do down to the chest 5x5...the next week I won't lock up at the top or go all the way down but keep it constant up and town to keep blood pumping in......I don't really get the people who do weight and go 2-3" (just like going down 1/4" down on squats) but whatever people want to do in the gym is their business.


    At least they aren't inventing new excercises like I saw today, guy was just kicking hte leg press up so it flew up (not using any weight) and made a huge noise.

    these three morons were going to kill themselves in my gym the other day. They got on the squat machine which has the pads which rest on your shoulders. The faced the opposite way grabbed onto the handles, unlock the weight, brought it down a bit then flung the handles up and caught it, went back down a bit, then repeated a bunch of times. I really thought someone was going to die.
