    Came into work this morning and found out that 3 peeps got fired:eek3: Now I get a call from my boss to see him and I was like :wtc: I am one of three network admins and unfortunately lowest on the totem pole. I was shitting bricks as I walked into the door. Basically he asked me if I can create a web page to add to his monthly newsletter he sends out every month. He understands that I am a network guy but he can't afford to hire someone until next year due to budget concerns. I kinda said, [slow]"yeeeeeeeeesss" [/slow] since I dont want to be canned, lol.

    Nothing fancy, he wants to try and improve moral with a prize giveaway of sorts.

    Boss: You ever play football squares?

    Me::hsugh: .....yea

    Boss: I want to have around 100 squares where employees can select one square, enter their name and that square will be closed/locked. Then I would select a winner and they would get a prize, like a free day off etc...

    Me::hsugh: how would you determine the winner? Does all the boxes have to be completed before you find a winner? - Do you want a row/column of numbers and you draw a random number?

    Boss: :eek3: long pause...

    Me: [thinking] awww fuck, Im fired

    Boss: Your right! I haven't thought about that. I want you to work on it over the weekend and let me know. I still want it to be like football squares

    Me::squint:

    Chicago? :coold: There are a lot of ways you can do that. Photoshop can make the graphics, and if you know basic scripting skills you can probably code something like that in a few hours in php, but that's probably not your best option. I'd say look around and see if you can find someone else who has done something similar (chances are you will) and work off their code. You don't need any web design software, something as simple as Notepad can but used to code websites.

    Sorry I wasn't much help, good luck though :hs:

    We did a layoff yesterday as well. I was at the bottom of the totem pole (as far as newest hires, got hired 2 months ago) but happened to survive the layoff. I'm now the only engineer in our department. :sad2:
