We were just talking about the differences between Cali and Boise when guns and gun laws came up... Needless to say, they were horrified when they found out that not only does it take about 15 minutes to buy a gun and walk out with it, but you can also open carry without any kind of permit.

But I made sure to stress that Idaho in general is very safe and that if they do see someone open carrying then they are most likely an upstanding individual.

I forget how easy it is here to be a gun owner. :hs:

You can open carry without any kind of permit in CA too. However, concealed carry is a whole other issue.

 Sucks to be you...here in Missouri I can look at through a pic thread, say "Do want" and drive over to the gunshop, fill out the 4473, and be back in about 30 minutes. Driving time included....

:mamoru:This is assuming they actually have what I'm looking for.

Need to be an empty gun IIRC

  10. How did you miss this? He let them shoot without eye protection, then when everyone called him on it he kept (and continues to) defending it. He says that it's only a .22, so they don't need it. I can understand him putting his own eyes in jeopardy due to his willful ignorance, but it's a shame for him to willfully put his kids' eyes at risk.

  11. Something like that.

only time I never wear eye protection is when i'm hunting, even then it feels weird, but 400 yd shots at deer and 30 yd shots at airborne geese have little risk factor.

  20. It also helps protect against a failure of some sort.

I was just trained to only use it indoors where casings are flying all over. We would be 3 to a fox hole getting hit in the side of the face with brass. Even then you have to be stupid enough to look into someones ejection port to catch something in the eye. Seriously, the chance of someone getting an eye injury due to a malfunction is less likely than winning the lottery.

  22. The "odds" are little comfort when you're the one that catches a face full of metal and hot gas. It happens. Like we said, if you choose not to wear safety glasses, that's fine, but don't put your kids at risk because of your ignorance.

I'm ignorant? Tell me again how a crickett is going to explode in my kids face..

  24. Shit happens. I'm not saying it's GOING to happen, just that mechanical systems fail. What if the thing fails to fire, and the kid goes to clear the cartridge, and it ignites as it's ejecting from the gun? There are lots of improbable things that can happen, and that's why you wear safety glasses.

Yea, that wouldn't happen. If they get a FTF they bring the gun to me. It's not like I give my kids guns and cut em loose in the desert.
