So I'm laying down sleeping. I have a vague idea that I was in an alley or something, not in my bed. I hear a footstep, open my eyes a tad, look to the side, and see someone walking toward me. He's in a trench coat and fedora. When he gets near me, I tense and expect action. Instead, he kicks me and I roll off the side. I expect him to jump on me for a hand to hand attack, so I play unconcious. I hear a scrape, open my eyes, and he's standing over me with a pipe or something. Then he swings it over his head at my face . . . and I wake up in a cold sweat, body tingling, on the side of my bed, making a desperate grab for my sidearm.

    WTF?

I guess it's something with sleep paralysis (that's why I was tingling). Every now and then (we're talking like once every couple of years or so) I'll have a dream where I'll die (or at least be about to die - it always stops an instant before I expire) and wake up either tingling or with lingering sleep paralysis. It's not disturbing, I just wonder at it.

Kinda sounds like a night terror. :dunno:

I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you are big on Freud. He'd have an explaination for this. :mamoru:

Deep dark secrets that you are powerless over are going to get you.

That's what I'm thinking. Although I never actually die. I always wake up an instant before.

Oh yeah, I'm not worried about it. I was like "whoa", checked the locks, dried off, and went back to sleep.

I've had crazy dreams like that before. Once I had one that I was falling...I dunno from what or how but I was falling and I remember I felt scared while sleeping cause I thought I was gonna die

Then another time, I dreamt I had been shot in the chest. And I think just before I died or whatever, I woke up and my chest hurt:eek3:

And most recently...I was sleeping and I wanted to wake up because I forgot to do something but I couldn't wake up...it was like I was caught between the sleep stage and the awake stage. that was really strange. I finally fought it though and woke up but the feeling I had was like :wtf: just happened. That was really scary because it made me remember of my Grandmother. She died in her sleep.

Is there an issue in your life that you are powerless to fight against?

An issue that hides as well as this stranger has. An issue with a mask, a mask you've put on it to make it seem harmful?

But in your dreams this issue takes a form. Your subconcious is unleashed and confronts you in an alleyway. There is no escaping the subconcious in your dreams, friend.

I realise I am getting personal here. But I realise you are texan, and you mention you have a sidearm. I also recall through the depths of offtopic knowlage that you had one, perhaps .9mm? not exactly sure.

Now everyone wants the bennifit of personal protection. I would enjoy it too if I actually needed it, however the crime rate in my province is laughable.

Is there a personal reason you carry the sidearm, or was it just a figment of your dream based on real life inventory?

I don't put much stock in dream interpretation. I didn't post it looking for one. There are plenty of things I'm powerless against. You can't defend yourself from everything.

This is so typical Glass. Post asking for comment, then attack when you don't like what people say. Its a way of externalizing and validating your internal denial about anything about yourself needing any analysis whatsoever. Instead of yelling at yourself for self-analysis that makes you uncomfortable, you post here and yell at anyone who does exactly what you ask by doing that analysis for you. They respond with anger, and your resistance to self-analysis is validated. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

This abuse of this forum and its members is not helping you. Its hurting you. Its reinforcing the very hang-ups that impede your happiness.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of needing to use my weaponry any more than I'm afraid of getting in a bad car wreck every time I get in the car (although both seat belts and sidearms have saved my life on more than one occasion). The place I lived in last year was broken into at least three times, twice when I was home. One intruder fled when he saw me, the other was aggressive and intent on violence until I insisted on escorting him out at gunpoint. Two nights ago I heard small arms fire and went out to investigate (this time with the shotgun - I keep a shotgun and brush rifle in the bedroom too, but those are more for hunting and only in proximity because of my lack of space to keep them elsewhere). So any way, keeping the sidearm handy is more of a prudence thing. I have needed it before, and I'm probably alive because of the habit, and I intend to keep it. Better safe than sorry. But it's not some security blanket.

Our bat viewers know that it comes after he replies that he only did what you asked. Its a pattern. If you didn't want dream interpretation (and obvious, totally elementary dream interpretation at that) then why did you post a dream and ask for commentary?

Because I wanted a commentary, not an interpretation?

What does that even mean? What commentary would be relevant to this forum besides an interpretation?

I hate fighting. Fighting is the most pointless act on the planet besides playing with your balls. Playing with your balls at least brings minute pleasure.

So I am not here to rock your socks. I think a key to figuring out what's going wrong inside you is to be omnipotent in nature.

    Never just put down anything.

You did indeed ask for input. We are not angels sent from heaven that can detect your concious intent, and I cannot here the signals in your voice or movements to tell me you are uncomfortable with what is being said so you may become offended.

Yes, I did interpret it. I am no mystick and have no desire to be one. Perhaps you feel uncomfortable with the idea of being powerless. I indeed feel uncomfortable with that, but I accept it because I put my faith in God, a being I will never be able to match.

You are obviously feeling security violations. Do you have a g-shep (german shepard?). I have one, he's great at detecting intruders. Just owning one reduces insurance costs aswell. When an oxycotin fiend hears a dog barking, he gets the fuck out of there.

Everyone hates the feeling of being helpless. My ultimate fear is being old and weak because I would like to live forever. I hate the thought of learning so much every day of my damn life to lose it all to the blight of death. We all have fears. You lose that fear by admitting it and realising it. Then you patch that security hole in your life.

If I do die I will be holding on to christ's bloody hand until the end. If he doesn't exist, no matter I'll be dead and gone. If he does, I will live in eternal peace.

A little offtopic, but sometimes I will get sleep paralysis. Which to me is one of the worst feelings you can have. Well it's kind of like you are halfway dreaming. I'm laying in my bed I hear my bedroom door open but cannot move or see. I get a feeling of this presence in the room. When I can open my eyes I see a dark figure and they come right up to my bed and push down on my chest as hard as they can. I try to scream move, but nothing happens. (I'm actually getting chills on my neck from typing this) It's amazing what the brain can do.

I can't have a dog where I am, plus I'm not home enough to take care of one (and no way am I going to get a dog and expect it to sit around idle 12-16 hours a day while I work and be social in life). I detect intruders just fine though. Nobody has ever been in my home with me without my detecting them (much to the chagrin of my sister while she tried to cook me a birthday breakfast - almost had a side of shotgun pellets with that meal).

Interpret if you like, but I don't need it. Most of my posts are for the benefit of the asylum at large, not a solicitation of help for me.

I guess that's a night terror. I suppose it's your brain trying to interpret a cause of the sleep paralysis. I've never had that though.

Wait, so now Asylum at large is supposed to benefit from hearing about your dream about deep dark secrets coming back to get you... but wait, we aren't supposed to call it that?
